Carson Bruns, Director
Carson is a native Coloradan who received a BA from Luther College 2008 with a concentration in Chemistry, Religion, and Mathematics, and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Northwestern University in 2013 under the joint supervision of Professors J. Fraser Stoddart and Samuel I. Stupp. After spending three years as a Miller Research Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley in the group of Matt Francis in the College of Chemistry, he moved to the University of Colorado as an assistant professor of mechanical engineering and technology, arts, and media at the ATLAS Institute. His research interests span organic, inorganic, polymer, and biochemistry, as well as materials science and engineering.
Jesse Butterfield, Graduate Research Assistant
Jesse hails from Washington state, where he was born and raised. He received a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington with a concentration on nanoscience and molecular engineering. After spending two years as an engineer at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Jesse came to the University of Colorado Boulder to pursue a PhD in mechanical engineering.
